OGET · Field 174
The Certification Examinations for Oklahoma Educators (CEOE) are the licensure tests Oklahoma uses to clear teachers into the classroom — built and scored by the Evaluation Systems group of Pearson for the Oklahoma Office of Educational Quality and Accountability (OEQA). The program runs on three tracks: the OGET general-education test, the Assessment of Professional Knowledge (APK, which replaced the former OPTE in June 2025), and more than two dozen OSAT subject-area tests. For aspiring and alternatively-certified Oklahoma teachers, a passing CEOE score is the gate between an offer letter and a paycheck — and a failed subtest can stall your certification for an entire hiring season. This page breaks down exactly what each exam covers, how the OGET is built, and how to clear it the first time.

Three exam types stand between you and an Oklahoma teaching certificate
OGET
A 4-hour basic-skills test of reading, written communication, mathematics, and information literacy, plus one written assignment. Still required by many prep and alt-cert pathways.
APK
The Assessment of Professional Knowledge (APK) is Oklahoma's professional-education assessment as of June 3, 2025, replacing the earlier OPTE. It covers pedagogy — learning theory, assessment, classroom management, and ethics — at Elementary and Secondary levels.
OSAT
Field-specific content tests — most are 4 hours with about 80 selected-response items and one constructed-response assignment. You take the OSAT matching the subject you want to teach.
The OGET is a single 4-hour computer-based session. You manage your own pace across the 100 selected-response questions and the constructed-response writing assignment — there are no enforced per-section timers, so candidates who burn too long on the essay often leave math items unanswered. Results are reported on a 100–300 scaled score.
Each CEOE test is scored independently — there is no combined "CEOE score." The OGET and the OSAT subject tests are reported on a 100–300 scale and need a scaled 240 to pass; the separate APK professional-knowledge assessment sets its own passing standard. Selected-response and constructed-response performance are combined into one scaled score, so you cannot pass on multiple-choice alone if the essay falls short.
Four subareas of the General Education Test — bars show each subarea's approximate share of the score
Recognizing a writer's point of view, analyzing relationships between ideas, evaluating written material, and applying the conventions of formal written English.
Quantitative reasoning and problem solving, algebra, geometry, statistics, ratios and percentages, and interpreting graphs and charts — no on-screen calculator on many items.
Applying information-literacy skills and procedures, evaluating sources for appropriate use, and demonstrating knowledge of research methods.
One constructed-response assignment: prepare an organized, developed composition that responds to instructions on content, purpose, and audience. It is the single item most candidates underestimate.
The weights above are approximate, based on the published CEOE framework for Field 174. Because Subareas I–III feed the selected-response portion and Subarea IV is the scored essay, your final scaled score depends on doing well across the board — a strong multiple-choice run cannot rescue a thin or off-prompt writing response.

Two ways to sit a CEOE exam — and what to expect on test day
You sit the exam in a quiet, monitored room at a Pearson VUE center, several of which operate on Oklahoma campuses. Staff verify your government-issued photo ID, store your belongings, and watch the room. Seats fill quickly near application deadlines, so book early.
For supported CEOE fields you can test from a private room at home using Pearson VUE OnVUE remote proctoring. You run a system test, complete a webcam room scan, and verify a government ID before the exam unlocks, with a live proctor monitoring throughout. Not every field is available online.
A valid, unexpired government photo ID whose name matches your CEOE registration exactly. OnVUE captures a photo and ID image before check-in completes.
A clear desk, no second monitor, no phone within reach, and a 360° webcam scan of the room. No one else may enter, and the four-hour session runs uninterrupted.
Stay in frame and on camera the whole time. Reading questions aloud, leaving the seat, or a dropped connection can flag or void the OnVUE session.
These exams gate the Oklahoma classroom
The content is broad — the real challenge is range and stamina
Reality check: A failed CEOE subtest doesn't just cost the retake fee (the OGET is $115, with OSAT and APK fees in a similar range) — it can delay a teaching contract or emergency certificate past the start of the school year. Many candidates juggle these exams while student-teaching or already working, which is exactly the pressure point our help is designed to remove.
The OGET, APK, and OSAT tests are long, broad, and sit directly between you and an Oklahoma teaching certificate. Exam Assist pairs you with a vetted specialist for your specific CEOE field and works on a pay-after-you-pass model — so the risk sits with us, not you. No upfront fee, guaranteed results: Exam Assist handles the sitting end to end, and you settle only after the verified result.
Tell us which CEOE test and field code you're sitting (OGET, APK, or a specific OSAT), your delivery method (center or OnVUE), and your test date. Takes a couple of minutes over WhatsApp, Telegram, or Discord.
We review your subtest, timeline, and the 240 cut score and tell you plainly whether it's realistic — before any money is discussed. If it isn't a fit, we say so.
Exam Assist handles the sitting end to end. You're matched with a specialist who maps the work around your subareas, the constructed-response writing, and the Pearson VUE OnVUE environment — discreetly and confidentially.
You only pay once your passing score is confirmed on your official CEOE report. No verified result, nothing owed.
