PAS-C01
The AWS Certified: SAP on AWS – Specialty was one of AWS's most niche, highest-bar credentials — it validated that you could design, migrate, operate, and maintain production SAP landscapes on AWS. Important: AWS retired this exam on April 29, 2024, so PAS-C01 can no longer be registered for or taken. Holders earned before that date keep an active credential for three years from their pass date. This page documents exactly what PAS-C01 tested and how it was delivered, and points you to AWS exams you can still sit today.

How the SAP on AWS – Specialty exam is built — at a glance
65
50 scored questions plus 15 unscored pretest items mixed in. The pretest questions don't count toward your result but aren't flagged, so you treat every question seriously.
170
Roughly 2 hours 40 minutes — about 2.6 minutes per question. The scenario stems are long and SAP-specific, so reading speed and judgment matter as much as recall.
750
Scores run 100–1000 and 750 is the cut. Scoring is compensatory — your total across all domains decides pass or fail, with no separate minimum per domain.
Two formats: multiple choice with one correct answer and three distractors, and multiple response where you must select two or more correct answers from five or more options. There is no partial credit on multiple-response items — you have to get the full set right. Wrong answers carry no penalty, so leaving a question blank never helps.
AWS uses scaled scoring across the full 100–1000 range so results are comparable across exam versions. You see a pass/fail outcome plus your scaled score, and a domain-level breakdown that flags which areas were strong or weak. Because it's compensatory, a heavier Design or Migration section can be balanced by the smaller Operations weighting — but a thin profile anywhere drags the total.
Four domains — bars show each domain's share of the scored content
Architecting compute, storage, networking, and high-availability/DR for SAP and SAP HANA on AWS — sizing instances, designing for resilience, and meeting performance, security, and cost requirements.
Deploying SAP environments — provisioning with AWS Launch Wizard for SAP and CloudFormation, configuring storage and networking, automating installs, and integrating identity, monitoring, and backup.
Choosing and executing migration approaches — homogeneous vs. heterogeneous, lift-and-shift vs. database migration to HANA — using tools like AWS DMS, SAP DMO, and backup/restore strategies with minimal downtime.
Running SAP in production — monitoring with CloudWatch and AWS Backint, patching and OS/DB maintenance, snapshots and DR drills, cost optimization, and operational best practices for live landscapes.
Design and Migration together make up well over half the exam, so the heaviest preparation pays off there. But because scoring is compensatory, you can't ignore the lighter Implementation and Operations domains — weak coverage in either still pulls down your scaled total.
Two ways to sit the exam — and what to expect on test day
While PAS-C01 was active, you sat it in a quiet, monitored room at a Pearson VUE center. Staff verified your government-issued ID, stored your belongings, and watched the room — no personal items or notes at the desk. The exam fee was $300 USD, the standard AWS price for Specialty-level exams.
The online option let you take the exam from a private room at home or office, monitored by a live proctor through Pearson VUE OnVUE. You ran a system test, completed an ID and room check, and stayed on camera throughout. The fee was the same $300 USD, and no scratch paper was allowed — only the on-screen note tool.
A valid, unexpired government photo ID whose name matches your AWS Certification account exactly. OnVUE captures photos of you, your ID, and your workspace before the exam unlocks.
A clear desk, no second monitor, no phone within reach, and a 360° webcam scan of the room. You must be alone, and no one may enter during the exam.
Stay in frame and on-camera the whole time. There are no scheduled breaks; leaving your seat, reading aloud, or losing connection can pause or flag the session.
Built for SAP and cloud professionals running enterprise workloads
No required prerequisites — but deep, specialized knowledge is assumed
Difficulty: PAS-C01 is widely rated one of the toughest AWS Specialty exams because it demands fluency in two deep, separate worlds — SAP architecture and AWS services — at the same time. Scenario questions are long and require trade-off judgment, not memorization. Even seasoned candidates report needing dedicated, focused prep, which is exactly the kind of pressure point our help is designed to remove.
PAS-C01 itself is retired, so we can't help you sit it — but the AWS skills it covered still matter, and the certifications that overlap with it (Solutions Architect – Professional, DevOps – Professional, and the active Specialty tracks) are still open. Exam Assist pairs you with a vetted AWS specialist on a pay-after-you-pass model — so the risk sits with us, not you. No upfront fee, and we advertise guaranteed results: Exam Assist handles the sitting end to end, and you settle only after the verified result.
Tell us which AWS certification you're targeting now that PAS-C01 is retired, your delivery method (center or OnVUE), and your timeline. Takes a couple of minutes over WhatsApp, Telegram, or Discord.
We review your timeline and the exam's demands and tell you plainly whether it's realistic — before any money is discussed. If it isn't a fit, we say so.
Exam Assist handles the sitting end to end. You're matched with an AWS specialist who maps the work around your target exam's domains and the OnVUE environment — discreetly and confidentially.
You only pay once your passing result is confirmed in your AWS Certification account. No verified result, nothing owed.
