Unlike the GMAT or GRE, the CAPM is a fixed, linear form — every candidate answers a set bank of questions and the difficulty does not shift based on your earlier answers. You can flag items, move back and forth, and review before you submit, so a smart pacing strategy and a clean second pass are well worth practising.
There is no published passing percentage and no numeric score. PMI uses a panel of subject-matter experts to set the bar and reports a simple Pass or Fail, plus a per-domain proficiency rating (Above Target, Target, Below Target, or Needs Improvement) so you can see where you were strong or weak. The pass/fail decision rests only on the 135 scored questions.

Two ways to sit the exam — and what to expect on test day
You sit the exam in a quiet, monitored room at a Pearson VUE center. Staff verify your government-issued ID, store your belongings in a locker, and watch the room. Scratch material is provided and collected at the end. This is the most controlled environment if you want zero connectivity risk.
You take the exam from a private room at home through Pearson VUE's OnVUE platform, monitored by a live proctor. Beforehand you run a system test, scan the room with your webcam, and verify your ID. No paper notes are allowed — only the on-screen whiteboard. A stable connection and a strictly clear desk are non-negotiable.
A valid, unexpired government photo ID with your name matching your PMI profile exactly. The proctor captures a photo before the exam unlocks.
