Part 2 · OG0-092
TOGAF 9 Certified is The Open Group's Level 2 credential — the standard most enterprise-architect roles list as a hard requirement. You earn it by passing the Part 2 exam (OG0-092), an open-book, scenario-based test of how well you apply the Architecture Development Method, not just recall it. A stalled certification can hold up a promotion, a consulting engagement, or a job offer. This page breaks down exactly what Part 2 tests, how it's scored, and how to clear it the first time.

How the TOGAF 9 Part 2 exam is built — at a glance
8
Each question opens with a paragraph of business context, then asks how a TOGAF architect should respond. You apply the framework to the situation rather than recall a definition.
5/3/1/0
Most options are partly right. The best answer scores 5 points, the next 3, the third 1, and the clearly wrong distractor 0 — so you pick the strongest of several plausible choices.
24/40
Maximum 40 points across the 8 scenarios; you need 24 or more (60%) to pass. The result is reported as pass or fail — there is no numeric score printed on your certificate.
You get 90 minutes for 8 scenarios — roughly 11 minutes each. An electronic copy of the TOGAF Standard is built into the exam, but there is no time to read it cover to cover. The reference is there to confirm a detail you already half-know, not to learn the framework on the spot. Candidates sitting the exam in a non-native language are commonly granted extra time.
TOGAF 9 Certified (Level 2) is awarded only when you hold both Part 1 (Foundation) and Part 2. This page covers Part 2 — the scenario exam that proves you can apply the method. If you have not yet cleared Foundation, you can take Part 1 first, then sit Part 2, or take a combined sitting where both are scheduled together.
The scenarios draw on the full Level 2 learning outcomes — applied, not memorised
Applying the ADM phases (Preliminary through H) to a scenario — choosing the right phase, deliverable, and technique for the situation described.
Tailoring the method to an organisation — iteration, levels of architecture, security and SOA considerations, and how to scope an engagement.
The content framework, building blocks (ABBs/SBBs), and the key deliverables — Architecture Definition Document, Roadmap, Requirements, and more.
Establishing and running governance — the Architecture Board, contracts, compliance reviews, and capability — so architecture stays aligned with the business.
Stakeholder management, views and viewpoints, the Architecture Repository, and the Enterprise Continuum used to organise and reuse assets.
Transition architectures, the Implementation and Migration Plan, gap analysis, business value, and managing risk across the change.
The Part 2 syllabus is not broken into fixed percentage weights — instead, each of the 8 scenarios can touch any part of the Level 2 outcomes. That breadth is exactly why so many candidates know the framework yet still pick the second-best answer under time pressure.
Two ways to sit the exam — and what to expect on test day
The Open Group delivers TOGAF exams through Pearson VUE. At a center, staff verify your government-issued ID, store your belongings, and monitor the room while you work on a provided workstation. The open-book TOGAF Standard is on-screen — no printed materials are allowed in the room.
You can take Part 2 from home through Pearson VUE OnVUE remote proctoring. A proctor checks your ID, runs a 360° webcam scan of the room, and monitors you for the full session. You need a quiet private space, a working webcam and microphone, and a stable connection — and the room must stay clear of notes and devices.
A valid, unexpired government photo ID with a name matching your Pearson VUE booking exactly. The proctor captures a photo before the exam unlocks.
A clear desk, no second monitor, no phone within reach, no printed notes. Because the exam is open book on-screen, outside reference material is strictly prohibited.
Stay in frame and on-camera the whole time. There are no scheduled breaks in the 90 minutes. Leaving the seat, talking aloud, or losing connection can flag the session.
TOGAF Certified is the baseline credential for enterprise architecture roles
Part 1 is required first — and Part 2 is the harder half
Difficulty: Part 2 trips up well-prepared candidates because the gradient scoring rewards judgement, not recall — several options "work," and you have to find the one most aligned with TOGAF best practice. Add 90 minutes for 8 dense scenarios and an open book you cannot lean on, and the result is a genuinely demanding exam. That pressure point is exactly what our help is designed to remove.
