COF-C03
SnowPro Core is Snowflake's foundational certification — the credential data engineers, analysts, and architects use to prove they understand the Snowflake AI Data Cloud. It is the required gateway to every SnowPro Advanced track, and recruiters increasingly treat it as a hard filter for Snowflake roles. The current version is COF-C03, which went live in February 2026 and replaced the older COF-C02. A single fail costs you the $175 fee and resets your timeline, so it pays to walk in prepared. This page breaks down exactly what the exam tests, how it's delivered, and how to pass it the first time.

How the SnowPro Core (COF-C03) exam is built — at a glance
100
A mix of multiple choice and multiple select. Multiple-select items state how many options to pick, and partial credit is not awarded for them.
115
Just over a minute per question. You can flag items and revisit them before the timer ends, so a quick first pass then a review pass works well.
750
Scored on a scaled 0–1000 range; you need 750 to pass. The result shows pass or fail immediately, with a domain-level breakdown afterward.
There are no labs or hands-on tasks — every item is a scenario or knowledge question. Many test what a feature does in practice (how a virtual warehouse resizes, when caching kicks in, what a role can do), so a brisk pace with a flagged-question review pass is the safe approach within the 115-minute limit.
Snowflake reports a scaled score from 0 to 1000 rather than a raw percentage, with 750 as the cut. Harder questions are weighted, so there is no single fixed number of correct answers — but answering roughly three in four is a sensible target. COF-C03 (English) went live on February 16, 2026, replacing COF-C02.
Five weighted domains — bars show each domain's share of the COF-C03 exam
The largest domain. Covers Snowflake's three-layer architecture, virtual warehouses, micro-partitions, editions, supported cloud platforms, and core AI Data Cloud capabilities.
Result and warehouse caching, clustering keys, search optimization, query profile, materialized views, and writing and tuning SQL transformations.
Role-based access control, users and roles, resource monitors, cost and credit usage, plus governance features like masking policies, row access policies, and Time Travel.
Stages, the COPY command, Snowpipe, file formats, semi-structured data (JSON, Parquet), unloading data, and connectors, drivers, and Snowsight.
Secure data sharing, the Snowflake Marketplace, reader accounts, listings, and how providers and consumers exchange live data without copying it.
Architecture and performance together make up more than half the exam, so a thin grasp of micro-partitions, caching, and warehouse behavior is where most candidates lose points. The smaller domains — loading and collaboration — are easy marks if you have actually moved data in and out of Snowflake and shared it.
Two ways to sit COF-C03 — and what to expect on test day
You sit the exam in a quiet, monitored room at a Pearson VUE center. Staff verify your government-issued ID, store your belongings, and watch the room. The workstation and on-screen timer are provided. The fee is $175 USD per attempt.
You take the exam from a private room using Pearson VUE's OnVUE software, monitored by a live proctor over webcam. You run a system test in advance, do an ID check and a room scan, and the proctor watches the whole session. Same $175 fee.
A valid, unexpired government photo ID whose name matches your registration exactly. OnVUE captures your photo and ID before the exam unlocks.
A clear desk, no second monitor, no phone or notes within reach, and a webcam scan of the room. No one else may enter while you test.
Stay on-camera and in frame the whole 115 minutes. There are no scheduled breaks online. Talking aloud, looking away repeatedly, or losing connection can flag the session.
SnowPro Core is the entry point to the Snowflake credential path
No formal requirements — but breadth catches people out
Difficulty: SnowPro Core is foundational, but it is broad — it tests precise details across architecture, security, loading, performance, and sharing. Candidates who only run queries day-to-day often underestimate the account-management and caching content. Most people invest 40–80 hours, and the 750/1000 cut leaves little margin, which is exactly the pressure point our help is designed to remove.
SnowPro Core (COF-C03) is a broad, detail-heavy exam with a 750/1000 cut and a $175 fee on every attempt. Exam Assist pairs you with a vetted Snowflake specialist and works on a pay-after-you-pass model — so the risk sits with us, not you. No upfront fee, guaranteed results: Exam Assist handles the sitting end to end, and you settle only after the verified result.
