What is the HPE Compute Fundamentals exam?
HPE0-S61 is Hewlett Packard Enterprise's foundational compute certification exam. HPE's own description: it validates your skills in HPE compute solutions for diverse workloads, covering fundamental knowledge of hybrid cloud platforms across HPE compute, storage, networking, and software. The exam launched on 1 June 2026 and replaced the HPE0-V25 HPE Hybrid Cloud Solutions exam - so any study material written for V25 describes a retired format.
Unlike many vendors, HPE publishes the full format on the exam's data card: 50 questions, 1 hour 30 minutes, a passing score of 65, delivered in English. How much does the HPE Compute Fundamentals exam cost?
$260 USD per attempt in developed countries, and $145 USD in emerging countries. Both HPE's own exam-types page and the Pearson VUE HPE program page publish the same HPE0 price - there is no guessing about this figure. If you buy a voucher through Pearson's voucher route, HPE's voucher terms give you 12 months of validity, with no returns, exchanges, or resale, and no reactivation after the expiry date.
The full cost picture includes the policy teeth. Exams must be cancelled or rescheduled within 24 hours of the appointment. If you fail, HPE's retake rule for proctored exams is a 14-day wait when the previous two attempts were within 14 days - and every retake bills at the same standard price as the original sitting. Two fast failures therefore cost $520 plus a forced pause, which is why the first sitting deserves a plan.
Can you take the HPE0-S61 exam at home?
Yes. HPE's exam-types page states that HPE0 exams are HPE Hybrid Cloud proctored written exams administered at Pearson VUE testing centers or online proctored. The Pearson VUE HPE program page, last updated 14 August 2026, goes further: all HPE0, HPE6, and HPE7 exams - except Aruba Expert exams - are available as online proctored exams, and you select 'at home' or 'office' during the registration process. HPE has retired the old plumbing - an HPE Learner ID and a separate Pearson user ID and password are no longer required, and you log in with your HPE profile credentials.
