What is the CSCP exam?
The CSCP exam is the certification exam for ASCM's Certified Supply Chain Professional designation - the credential for people who own the supply chain end to end, from suppliers to customers. ASCM positions it for building resilient sourcing strategies, eliminating inventory blind spots, forecasting with confidence, and turning business goals into measurable operational outcomes, inside a global network of more than 45,000 supply chain professionals.
The format is published word-for-word on ASCM's certification page, and this guide quotes it exactly: pass one exam covering eight modules of content within 3.5 hours. Administered via computer-based testing at Pearson VUE test centers worldwide, and online through the OnVUE system. 150 questions, with an exam score range of 200-350. Scores above 300 are passing.

How many questions is the CSCP exam and how long is it?
One hundred fifty questions in one 3.5-hour sitting. ASCM's exam block states it plainly: one exam, eight modules of content, 3.5 hours, 150 questions. There is no second part, no case-study day, and no separate practical - CSCP is a single computer-based exam.
Scoring runs on a 200-350 scale and ASCM states scores above 300 are passing. The scale is a scaled score, not a percentage: 300 is not 75 percent of anything published, and ASCM does not publish the raw-question-to-scale conversion. What is published is the pass line itself - above 300.
ASCM does not publish a CSCP pass rate or a retake waiting period on its certification page. Both numbers circulate on forums and vendor blogs; neither comes from ASCM. Treat any specific figure you see elsewhere as invented.
What topics does the CSCP exam cover?
ASCM publishes the topic list on the certification page, and the eight modules it names are the entire exam surface: Supply Chains, Demand Management and Forecasting; Global Supply Chain Networks; Sourcing Products and Services; Internal Operations and Inventory; Forward and Reverse Logistics; Supply Chain Relationships; Supply Chain Risk; and Optimization, Sustainability and Technology.

It runs the full physical and informational length of a supply chain - sourcing, internal operations, logistics in both directions - and then layers the connective tissue: relationships, risk, and the technology and sustainability layer that ASCM ties to modern supply chain practice.
The preparation materials ASCM sells alongside the exam - the Learning System with its study tools, practice exams, and the Exam Content Manual - are built around those same eight modules. Nothing on the exam falls outside the published list.
Who is the CSCP for and what do you need before booking?
ASCM frames CSCP for supply chain professionals who need end-to-end fluency: planners moving into network roles, sourcing and procurement managers, logistics and operations managers, and consultants who advise across the chain. The credential signals you can manage risk, drive operational efficiency, and lead technology adoption - the three capabilities ASCM's own positioning names.
There is no published education or experience gate on the certification page itself. What gates most people is practical: the pricing structure. The US$1,450 exam price requires the annual membership with the certification upgrade add-on (+US$199); nonmembers and members without the add-on pay US$2,015 for the same exam.
Once purchased inside a bundle, the exam arrives as an Authorization to Test (ATT) with a 365-day window from bundle purchase to schedule and sit the exam - and ASCM's terms note the bundle is non-refundable and non-transferable.
What does the CSCP exam cost?
The exam alone lists at US$1,450, and ASCM's pricing block defines who pays it: that price is for members with the certification upgrade add-on. Nonmembers and members without the add-on pay US$2,015. The annual membership with the certification upgrade add-on costs +US$199.

Can you take the CSCP exam online from home?
Yes - it is official on both sides. ASCM's page states the exam is administered via computer-based testing at Pearson VUE test centers worldwide, and online through the OnVUE system, and Pearson VUE runs a dedicated APICS OnVUE page with the scheduling login and the full requirements list.
The at-home minimums, per Pearson's page: Windows 10 or macOS 14 or higher; a working webcam, microphone, and speaker with no headphones or headsets; one display only; a stable connection of at least 6 Mbps down and 2 Mbps up; and the ability to close every application except OnVUE. Prohibited: virtual machines, phones, tablets, headphones, earbuds, styluses, watches, smart devices with recording or AI features, secondary or touchscreen displays, and VPN, corporate, or public networks.
Before exam day you run and pass Pearson's System Test on the same device and network you will test on. Check-in opens 30 minutes early with technology checks, photos of you and your ID, and a 360-degree room scan; the session is recorded. If a requirement is not met, you cannot test and the fee is forfeited. How hard is the CSCP exam, honestly?
The honest answer is that the difficulty is breadth, not depth. Eight modules in 150 questions means roughly nineteen questions per module area - enough to fail on two weak domains even with six strong ones. People who live in sourcing but have not revisited reverse logistics or the technology and sustainability layer since a training course are the classic borderline case.
The pass line compounds it: above 300 on a 200-350 scale, with no published partial weighting across modules. ASCM does not publish a pass rate, so ignore any percentage you see quoted on prep-vendor pages.
The logistical layer is its own risk. OnVUE sittings end before the first question when the System Test ran on a different device, a second monitor is attached, or a VPN breaks the connection rule - and a forfeited US$1,450-plus fee is a real cost, not a hypothetical. Planning the sitting matters as much as knowing the content.
