How much does an APICS certification cost?
For the two flagship APICS certifications, the exam alone costs US$1,450 for the CSCP or US$1,265 for the CPIM - if you hold ASCM membership with the certification upgrade add-on. Without that add-on, the same exams cost US$2,015 and US$1,755. The add-on itself is +US$199 on an annual membership, which is why nearly every serious candidate takes it.
The all-in bundles - Learning System, exam voucher, 2nd Chance retake, books, study tools, the Exam Content Manual, and a year of membership with the upgrade - list at US$2,620 for CSCP and US$2,275 for CPIM (US$3,650 and US$3,175 respectively without the upgrade path).
Every number in this guide comes from ASCM's own pricing blocks on the CSCP and CPIM certification pages, retrieved 13 September 2026. Nothing is estimated, rounded, or borrowed from prep-vendor pages.
A note on sources and method: every figure in this guide is transcribed from the pricing blocks ASCM itself renders on its CSCP and CPIM certification pages - the exam-only blocks, the bundle blocks, the retake line, and the membership-upgrade line. Where ASCM publishes a term rather than a number - the 365-day Authorization to Test window, the non-refundable and non-transferable bundle condition - the term is quoted as a term. Nothing here is inferred from a cart screenshot, a prep-vendor bundle, or a third-party discount page, and nothing is rounded: the odd-looking US$2,015 and US$3,650 figures are exactly what ASCM lists.
Every Published APICS Fee in One Table
The table below is the complete fee picture ASCM publishes for the two flagship certifications. Read the member column as members with the certification upgrade add-on - ASCM's own wording is that members without the add-on pay the nonmember price, which is why the two right-hand columns collapse into one real decision: take the +US$199 add-on or pay the higher column.
Two structural facts sit under every row. First, the standalone retake price is US$500 for both certifications - the single most expensive line item after the exam itself, and the one most candidates never budget for. Second, the 2nd Chance retake is free only inside a bundle and only for a first attempt scheduled and failed within 365 days of purchase, so the safety net expires on a calendar, not on goodwill.

What is actually inside the bundle?
The CSCP bundle - CSCP Learning System + Exam + 2nd Chance Exam with Membership - carries the exam voucher, the Learning System, the 2nd Chance retake, digital and printed books for one year from purchase, online study tools with quizzes, practice exams, learning activities and a resource center (instructor support not included), the CSCP Exam Content Manual, and one year of membership with the certification upgrade add-on.
The CPIM bundle matches the shape: Learning System, exam voucher, 2nd Chance retake, digital and printed books, online quizzes and tests with immediate feedback, the same study tools, the CPIM Exam Content Manual, and the year of membership with the upgrade. ASCM also offers monthly payments at checkout for CPIM.
Two terms cut across both. Access to the online study tools expires 365 days after the bundle purchase date - the same window in which the exam arrives as an Authorization to Test (ATT). And the bundle is non-refundable and non-transferable, per ASCM's published terms. Buy it, and the clock starts.
The US$500 retake and the 2nd Chance rule
A standalone APICS exam retake - either certification - lists at US$500. That is the number to plan against if you buy the exam alone: a failed first attempt costs the exam price plus US$500 to try again.
The 2nd Chance retake is the bundle's safety net, and its terms are narrower than most buyers realize. It is free only inside the bundle, and ASCM's terms state you qualify only when you schedule and fail your first exam within 365 days of purchasing your certification bundle. Schedule late, pass the 365-day mark before sitting, and the free retake is gone even though the ATT may still be valid.
ASCM does not publish a retake waiting period on either certification page. Some prep sites quote specific cooldowns; those numbers do not come from ASCM. Plan against the published fees and windows, not forum folklore - and if the first attempt fails, the honest arithmetic is the US$500 standalone price unless your 2nd Chance window is still open.
The membership math that decides your price
The trap in APICS pricing is the word member. The US$1,450 CSCP and US$1,265 CPIM exam prices are not for any member - ASCM's pricing blocks state that members without the certification upgrade add-on pay the higher US$2,015 and US$1,755 prices, the same as nonmembers.
The annual membership with the certification upgrade add-on costs +US$199. Run the arithmetic on the CSCP exam alone: the add-on costs US$199 and saves you US$565 on the exam, so it pays for itself immediately. For CPIM the saving is US$490 against the same US$199. In both cases the correct move is the add-on before the exam - there is no scenario where the higher column wins on a single exam purchase.
For CPIM, ASCM publishes one further discount: members with the certification upgrade receive 28% off the learning system, exam, and bundle purchase. That is the discount that produces the US$2,275 bundle price for members. ASCM counts its professional network at more than 45,000 supply chain professionals - the membership is not a formality, it is the pricing mechanism.
One more budget line candidates forget: the study-tools clock. Access to the online study tools expires 365 days after the bundle purchase date - the same calendar that governs the Authorization to Test. If your sitting slips past a year, you can still own the printed books, but the quizzes, practice exams, learning activities, and the resource center go dark, and the rescheduling conversation happens without them. Budget the attempt inside the year the bundle gives you, not against it.
What APICS Certification Actually Costs You
The real budget for a first attempt is the exam price in your column - US$1,450 or US$2,015 for CSCP, US$1,265 or US$1,755 for CPIM - plus the +US$199 upgrade add-on if you have not already taken it, plus the risk of a US$500 retake if the first sitting fails. The bundle replaces most of that stack with one number and adds the 365-day clock on both the study tools and the ATT.
One thing the fee table cannot price is the sitting itself: 150 questions across eight or nine modules in 3.5 hours, online from home through OnVUE or at a Pearson VUE test center. If you want that sitting handled end to end - with the service fee due only after the agreed result posts - start on the CSCP exam help page or the CPIM exam help page.
