What the VMCE+ v13 Actually Tests

The Veeam Certified Engineer Plus v13 is Veeam's current professional credential, aligned to Veeam Data Platform 13. The official exam specification defines the sitting precisely: 100 multiple-choice items, all scored, in 150 minutes. There are no true-or-false items and no unscored trial questions - the retired VMCE carried ten unscored pilot items, and the VMCE+ removed them.

The blueprint spans six published domains: Veeam Fundamentals, Strategy, and Design at 14%; Deployment, Configuration, and Security at 20%; Data Protection and Maintenance at 26%; Recovery and Verification at 15%; Analytics, Monitoring, and Observability at 13%; and Orchestration and Disaster Recovery at 10%. The exam now covers three products, not one: Veeam Backup & Replication, Veeam ONE, and Veeam Recovery Orchestrator.

Scoring is scaled across a 300-900 range with 724 to pass, and the decision rides on your total score only - Veeam states section-level scores are less reliable and does not include them in score reports. The exam is available in English (US), and candidates whose local language is not English get 180 minutes instead of 150. Pass and you receive a certificate, a digital badge, and priority access to Veeam technical support.

Test Center or Online: How VMCE+ Delivery Works

Veeam's exam specification states the delivery model word for word: the exam is delivered through Pearson Professional Assessments - formerly Pearson VUE - and you can take it at a Pearson test center or online. Veeam's certification FAQ says the same thing from the candidate side: most Pearson VUE test centers offer Veeam exams, and candidates can take the exam from home or from the office using Pearson VUE's online proctored platform.

Scheduling runs through your own accounts: log in to your Veeam.com account and follow the link to Pearson Professional Assessments to book, reschedule, or cancel. There is no separate Veeam-run exam portal.

For an at-home sitting, Pearson's dedicated Veeam OnVUE page publishes the minimums: Windows 10 or macOS 14 or higher, a working webcam, microphone, and speaker with no headphones or headsets, exactly one display, a stable connection of at least 6 Mbps down and 2 Mbps up, and every application except OnVUE closed. The prohibited list covers virtual machines, beta operating systems, phones, tablets, watches, smart or AI devices, secondary or touchscreen displays, and VPN or corporate or public networks. Your desk must be empty except the testing computer and an unmarked beverage, the room must be private, and your government-issued photo ID must exactly match the booking name. Failing the minimums on exam day can mean immediate cancellation and forfeiture of the exam fee - so the system test on the same device and network beforehand is not optional.

What the VMCE+ Costs: Voucher Tiers and the Training Gate

Veeam does not publish a single global exam price. The official FAQ directs candidates to Pearson VUE for final pricing, and Pearson sells Veeam exam vouchers by country tier. Pearson's current voucher list prices the engineer-level exam at USD 180 in the United States, Canada, and Japan; GBP 140 in the United Kingdom; EUR 156 in tier-1 eurozone markets; AUD 260 in Australia; and USD 144 in tier-2 countries such as India, Brazil, Mexico, the Philippines, and South Africa. The store still labels its rows with the legacy VMCE and VMCA names - the engineer row is the VMCE+ sitting.

Voucher discipline matters: vouchers are non-refundable and non-transferable, they can only be redeemed in the country where they were purchased, choosing the wrong tier makes the voucher unusable with no reimbursement, and expiration dates cannot be extended. Pearson also notes prices can change without notice at Veeam's discretion - the number confirmed at scheduling is the number that counts.

Budget for the prerequisite too. The three-course VMCE+ bundle is 55+ hours of self-paced training, and Veeam sells the eLearning subscription through channel partners and distributors rather than at a published retail price. Instructor-led delivery of the Backup & Replication course runs four days through Veeam Authorized Education Centers; the on-demand version is 26 hours.

Retakes cost a full new sitting each time. The official retake ladder sets the waits: 24 hours after the first failed attempt, 14 days after attempts two through four, and twelve months after attempt five. Once you pass, Veeam locks the exam until the next major version - and because Veeam credentials do not expire, there is no recurring recertification fee on the other side.
