What the TCSCD Exam Actually Tests

TCSCD is the specialist-level Tanium certification for cloud deployments. Tanium's own track description says it validates an individual's knowledge around qualifying, planning, configuring, and operationalizing deployments on Tanium Cloud, and the exam overview gives it two identifiers: SKU TAN-EXAM-TCSCD and exam code TAN-4100. The published candidate profile is specific about who this exam is built for: a Tanium user with a foundational understanding of the operation and management of Tanium, a minimum of six to nine months of familiarity using administrative functions at a junior level within Tanium, and at least three months - or equivalent training - using Tanium Cloud or deploying new Tanium Cloud instances. The recommended training is the Tanium Cloud Deployment course, and the TCO certification is the required prerequisite.

One honesty note you will not get from most prep sites: Tanium does not publish a passing score. The Candidate Handbook states exams are pass/fail and that passing score requirements are not published because they are determined through statistical analyses and subject to change. At Home via OnVUE or at a Pearson Test Center

Tanium's certifications page states the delivery plainly: Tanium Certifications exams are delivered by Pearson VUE and are available at authorized testing centers or remotely in an online proctored format. The Pearson VUE Tanium program page names the two methods - a Pearson test center, or OnVUE Online Proctored, where the exam runs from your home or office while an offsite Pearson live proctor monitors the session.

The at-home route carries published rules worth knowing before you book. Check-in opens 30 minutes early; arrive more than 15 minutes late and the exam cannot be started. What the TCSCD Attempt Costs, Including the Retake Math

The Candidate Handbook fee table lists the TCSCD exam at $225. Payment is collected by Pearson VUE at registration, or you can sit on a prepaid voucher - voucher SKUs are on the Tanium Price List through your Tanium account team, each voucher covers exactly one attempt, and vouchers are valid for up to 12 months with no extensions granted.

The rescheduling rule is strict: cancel or move the appointment at least 48 hours ahead or the exam fee is forfeited, and a no-show forfeits it too. The retake ladder is where budgets break - a failed first attempt means a 7-day wait and another $225, a second failure means 14 days, and later attempts carry 21-day waits, each at the full fee. Three attempts at TCSCD is $675 in exam fees before any preparation spending.

The credential itself is valid for two years, and TCSCD recertifies by taking the TCSCD exam again. Tanium recommends recertifying at least two months before expiration and makes no exceptions for expired certifications, so the renewal exam fee is a standing every-two-years cost.

Where TCSCD Attempts Actually Go Wrong

The first failure point is the prerequisite chain. TCO certification is the required gate, not a suggestion, and candidates who let the TCO lapse or never held it cannot make TAN-4100 count. The credential sequence has to be planned, and we confirm your standing before anything is scheduled.
