What the Pega System Architect Attempt Costs

The fee is US$190 per attempt - Pega's certification FAQ publishes one flat price for every Pega exam administered by Pearson VUE - plus any local tax your country applies. Payment at Pearson VUE runs by credit card (MasterCard, VISA, American Express, or JCB only) or exam voucher; purchase orders, cash, and personal checks are not accepted. The retake math is published and worth planning around: wait at least 3 calendar days after a failed first attempt, at least 14 calendar days after the second, three total attempts inside a 12-month period that starts from your first attempt, and a fourth attempt only one year from the first - with the full US$190 fee paid every time. A second-attempt pass totals US$380 in exam fees; a third-attempt pass totals US$570.

Cancellation carries the sharp edge: a refund exists only when you cancel with at least 24-hour notice, and canceling inside 24 hours - or not showing up - forfeits the entire fee as a same-day forfeit. One free allowance exists: candidates registered in a non-native English-speaking country taking the English exam automatically receive an additional 30 minutes, listed in the Pearson VUE confirmation email. Where Pega System Architect Attempts Go Wrong

The first failure pattern is breadth. Eight domains over 60 questions means whole topic clusters - Pega GenAI, Insights, DevOps - sit outside most developers' daily project work, and the 65% bar does not care how strong your Case Management answers are if the newer domains go unanswered.

The second pattern is the version trap. The current exam applies to Pega Platform '25 and carries the PEGACPSA25V1 code, while much of the prep material in circulation targets retired 8.x-era blueprints with different topic weights and no GenAI domain at all. Candidates prepare against an old blueprint without realizing it, then meet Blueprint, Autopilot, and Connect Rules questions for the first time inside the scored sitting.

The third pattern is logistical. An unmet OnVUE minimum - a second monitor still attached, headphones within reach, a VPN or corporate network - means immediate cancellation and a forfeited US$190 before the first question. The 5-minute NDA acceptance window and the 24-hour cancellation deadline end attempts that the candidate's knowledge never had a chance to decide.
