What the CCSP Actually Tests
The current CCSP is a Computerized Adaptive Test: 3 hours, 100 to 150 items, passing at 700 out of 1000, delivered at Pearson VUE test centers. The outline behind it took effect August 1, 2026, so any prep material older than that is describing a retired exam.
The six domains carry published weights: Cloud Concepts, Architecture and Design 17%, Cloud Data Security 20%, Cloud Platform and Infrastructure Security 17%, Cloud Application Security 16%, Cloud Security Operations 17%, and Legal, Risk and Compliance 13%. Cloud Data Security is the single heaviest domain, and it is where underprepared candidates bleed the most points.
The CCSP tests cloud judgment, not vendor console skills. Questions ask how you would design, govern, and audit cloud environments across providers, which is why hands-on administrators sometimes struggle while architects settle in quickly.
Pearson VUE Center Delivery, ID Checked
CCSP sittings run at Pearson VUE test centers with photo ID verification. The current outline names no at-home CCSP option, so travel and check-in time are part of the appointment plan.
Chinese-language CCSP exams are offered only in select appointment windows, which matters if your timeline depends on a non-English sitting. English, German, and Japanese run on normal availability.
The Five-Year Gate and the Shortcuts ISC2 Publishes
The credential requires five years of cumulative full-time IT experience, of which three years must be in cybersecurity and one year in one or more of the six CCSP domains. A relevant bachelors or masters degree can satisfy up to one year, the CSA CCSK certificate can substitute for one year, and only one year total can be waived.
Two published shortcuts matter. An active CISSP credential substitutes for the entire CCSP experience requirement, and candidates without the experience can pass the exam first and hold the Associate of ISC2 designation while they earn it, with six years to reach the five-year mark.
