At Home via OnVUE or at a Pearson Test Center

Pearson's rule is to run and pass its System Test on the same device and network you will use on exam day, restart the computer beforehand, and keep everyone else off the network. Check-in opens 30 minutes before your appointment: technology checks, photos of you and your ID, and a 360-degree room scan. If any requirement is not met, you cannot test and the fee is forfeited - which is exactly why the sitting is planned against these rules in advance rather than discovered on the day.

The retake math matters more than most people plan for. A standalone retake costs US$500. The free 2nd Chance retake exists only inside the bundle, and only when you schedule and fail your first attempt within 365 days of purchasing the bundle. The exam arrives as an Authorization to Test (ATT) with a 365-day window from bundle purchase to sit it, and the bundle is non-refundable and non-transferable.
ASCM does not publish a CPIM retake waiting period or a pass rate on its certification page. Anyone quoting you a fixed CPIM pass rate or a mandatory retake wait is inventing a number - treat both as unpublished and plan only against what ASCM actually says.
Where CPIM Attempts Go Wrong
The nine-module breadth is the academic trap: people who live in MRP runs but have not touched distribution or quality and business investment topics since a training years ago lose whole sections. The 200-350 scale sets the pass line at above 300 with no partial credit for a strong domain.
The second failure cluster is logistical. OnVUE sittings fail before the first question when the System Test was run on a different device or network than exam day, when a second monitor is still attached, when headphones are within reach, or when a VPN or corporate network breaks the connection requirement. Check-in starts 30 minutes early with a full 360-degree room scan - an unmet requirement means no testing and a forfeited fee.
The third is version and calendar drift. CPIM 8.0 is what ASCM sells today, and the ATT gives you 365 days from bundle purchase with the 2nd Chance retake valid only for a first attempt scheduled and failed inside that same window. Prepare against the wrong version or push the sitting late, and both the content and the safety net move.
