What is the format of the IT4IT exams?
Per The Open Group's IT4IT examinations summary, each IT4IT Foundation exam — Part 1 (OG0-061) and IT4IT 3 Foundation (OGIT-101) — consists of 40 multiple-choice questions with a 60-minute time limit and a 65% pass score (26 of 40). Both are supervised, closed book, and carry no prerequisites. Delivery is at Authorized Examination Provider test centers and remotely by OnVUE.
What is the difference between OG0-061 and OGIT-101?
The IT4IT certification program spans two bodies of knowledge. IT4IT Part 1 (OG0-061 in English, OG0-C61 in Simplified Chinese) certifies IT4IT Foundation against the IT4IT Standard Version 2.1 — the classic reference architecture built on four value streams. IT4IT 3 Foundation (OGIT-101, English) certifies against Version 3.0, which re-organizes the model around digital products.
The question weighting shows the difference. On OG0-061, Basic Concepts and IT4IT Core carry eight questions each, the Strategy to Portfolio, Requirement to Deploy, Request to Fulfill, and Detect to Correct value streams carry five each, and the overview unit four. On OGIT-101, the Digital Product unit carries eight questions, the Digital Product Backbone seven, the Service Offer Backbone six, and the value-stream units two each.
Neither exam has prerequisites and passing either earns its own Foundation certification — but they are different papers. Confirm which track your employer or program expects before booking anything.
How much does the IT4IT exam cost?
On The Open Group's retail fee schedule, applicable from 1 February 2026: IT4IT Part 1 (OG0-061/C61) costs USD 375 as a Pearson exam booking fee or USD 400 as a retail voucher from The Open Group Shop. IT4IT 3 Foundation (OGIT-101) costs USD 405 booking or USD 435 voucher. Prices are in USD and local taxes can apply by country.
Each track stands alone — there is no combined IT4IT exam and no cross-track discount. The schedule carries corrections applied 12 February 2026, and The Open Group reserves the right to change fees without notice, so re-verify the schedule close to your booking date.
Can you take the IT4IT exam at home?
Yes — The Open Group's examinations summary lists both IT4IT exams as delivered at Authorized Examination Provider test centers and remotely by OnVUE delivery. The exam, the supervision, and the 65% pass mark are identical either way; only the room changes.
At home, your room, hardware, camera view, and connection become part of the exam for the full 60 minutes, and a dropped connection mid-exam costs you the sitting. At a center, the environment is controlled but you travel. Booking runs through Pearson VUE either way, and the fee you pay depends on whether you book directly by credit card or redeem a retail voucher from The Open Group Shop.
Who is IT4IT for — and who should wait?
IT4IT fits IT operations managers, service-delivery leads, enterprise architects, and digital-product owners whose organizations run — or are buying — the manage-the-business-of-IT model. With no prerequisites on either track, the only real gate is picking the right track.
Wait if your employer has not confirmed Version 2.1 versus Version 3.0 — booking OG0-061 with a 3.0 syllabus in your head is the failure mode we see most. If the exam itself is the blocker rather than the ambiguity, Exam Assist handles the IT4IT sitting end to end, and the service fee is due only after the agreed result posts.
