One mercy sits inside the rule: the three-attempt cap is per live exam version. When Esri publishes the next version of an exam - the catalog refreshes on an 18-24 month cycle - the attempt counter resets with the new version.

The certifications in Esri's current public catalog each map to a single exam, so the exam-fee budget for a first-attempt pass is exactly the voucher price: US$275 for GIS Fundamentals Foundation, US$295 for ArcGIS Pro Associate, US$325 for a Professional credential. There is no application fee, no membership requirement, and no multi-exam stack inside these credentials.
The beta route cuts the fee to US$250 but changes the timeline: beta results arrive 8-10 weeks after the beta period closes, not in the 5-10 day operational window. Candidates who need a dated result for an employer or an application should budget the operational price.
Plan the two-window risk into the budget: the one-year voucher validity and the 5-10 day results window. A voucher bought too early can expire unused, and a deadline that lands inside the results window needs the sitting scheduled at least two weeks ahead of it.
The Logistics That Protect the Fees
